Biomass Conversion
Biomass constitutes a renewable feedstock for energy carriers and platform chemicals as well as materials. Our biomass research is focused on experimental studies studies of thermochemical biomass conversion, e.g. pyrolysis, as well as material characterization, e.g. of porous biochar. The experimental work is carried out in collaborations with expertise in numerical modeling of biomass conversion as well as expertise in technical applications. Moreover the division coordinates a European project developing guidelines for a future sustainable forestry.
MINICOR
Tee MINICOR project is funded by the European Innovation Council and focused on the development of a biomass conversion process combining pyrolysis, combustion and dry reforming. The target is to make optimum use of biomass pyrolysis products for further conversion into syngas and biochar. More information is found on the MINICOR project page.
CLIMB-FOREST
The CLIMB-FOREST project, funded via the Horizon Europe framework, aims to ensure that Europe’s forests maintain their climate mitigation capacities, are resilient to climate change and support people and nature. More information is found on the CLIMB-FOREST project page.
